Happy National Tequila day!!! Make the perfect margarita…on the rocks…and celebrate tequila with this refreshing recipe:
Classic Tequila Margarita by Food Netowork
3 ounces tequila
2 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice – use left over lime to rim your glasses
1 ounce Simple Syrup (recipe below)
1/2 to 1 teaspoon orange liqueur – I like Triple Sec
salt and/or sugar for rim of the glass – this recipe suggest both but you can use coarse salt only, a combo or sugar.
Fill a cocktail shaker or pitcher with ice. Add tequila, lime juice, and Simple Syrup. Cover and shake or stir until mixed and chilled, about 30 secs. Rub your glass with the lime so it wets the rim of your glass. Place salt &/or sugar on a plate. Press the rim of the glass into the salt. Strain margarita into the glass. Serve with a lime wedge – YUM!!! Happy sipping!
(Looks so good when they do it!)
…For the simple syrup – place equal parts water and white sugar in small sauce pan. Heat to simmer, stirring until sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat & cool. Makes almost a 3/4 cup using 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup sugar…
